Creekside Open 2019

May - July 2019

“I realised early on during the selection process that I was going to be able to make an exciting show.

An exhibition that comes out of open submission is exceptional anyway because the work, and not the selector, tends to set the standard; it is there to be found and exposed , with the determined curatorial over-view unable to play a role.

The standard here reveals a tip of the excellence of much art being made in the UK at the moment. I love what I have chosen and trust the work to show itself off with little help from me.”

CREEKSIDE OPEN 2019

The CREEKSIDE OPEN is a biennial visual arts competition founded in 2005 by APT. The competition set itself apart from others due to its unique format; two shows are independently selected from one open submission. The CREEKSIDE OPEN has built a strong following since its inception becoming one of the foremost contemporary art competitions in the UK.

This year marks the 14th and 15th exhibitions with two shows independently selected by Brian Griffiths and Sacha Craddock. After viewing over thousand images, 139 artists have been selected: Brian selected 60 works and Sacha 90 works and lucky 13 artists have shown their work in both exhibitions at the APT Gallery during May, June and July 2019.
